THE ONLY UNION IN THE UK DEDICATED TO TEACHERS

Welcome to the Wirral Association NASUWT

The NASUWT - The Teachers' Union (The National Association of Schoolmasters Union of Women Teachers) is the largest UK-wide school teacher trade union with  277,260 members throughout England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man. Since the amalgamation of the ATL and the NUT in 2017 to form a general education union with members throughout all education staff, called the National Education Union (NEU), the NASUWT remains the only trade union in the UK dedicated to protecting the interests of teachers.

The Wirral Association NASUWT has 1,643 full-time, part-time, supply, peripatetic, student and retired teacher members in primary, secondary and special schools and colleges on the Wirral who are represented by a very active Local Executive Committee.

After consultation with members we have changed our  meetings' format for 2018-19 to enable more people to attend meetings, share problems and be kept up to date. We urge members to try and attend at least one General Meeting during the academic year. Meeting dates, times and venues are listed on the Local Executive Committee page. All members are welcome to attend and share any school issue with the committee or to have a chat with individual committee members.

Remember that from September 2017 the NASUWT - The Teachers' Union is the only trade union that protects solely the interests of teachers in schools and colleges in the UK and in Wirral.

NASUWT ANNUAL NATIONAL CONFERENCE

The Annual Conference determines the policies that the union will adopt for the future. Each Local Association elects Delegates to Conference and, along with the NASUWT National Executive Committee, can submit motions to be presented at the Conference.   A postal or online ballot of all members selects the top twenty motions to be debated.
